I’m Keoni Yu and this is not a real brain. I have had the pleasure of teaching at Mary Collins School at Cherry Valley for the past eight years. I have a diverse educational and employment background, mostly involving music, psychology and occasionally zombies.

I love our school! I have been teaching at Mary Collins for 15+ years and my MCCV grade Nathan is starting 9th grade at Technology High School this year. I grew up in Davis where I studied Sustainable Agriculture and later teaching. I was drawn to teaching by the service learning, real world experimentation and ongoing research and discovery that school communities allow for students as well as teachers. The shifts in standards and 21st learning environments are exciting because while taking us forward in new directions they are also validating of the Mary Collins School Charter and our core tenets about how students learn best; integration, collaboration, communication, creativity, real world and differentiated instruction. I am very excited about my move to the middle school where I can put more of my Science Supplementary Credential to work as well as walk the talk of life long learning. When I am not teaching or busy thinking about teaching I am often found gardening, hiking, camping or playing frisbee with Nathan.

My name is Rob Ruddell and I have been teaching at Mary Collins School since 2001.  I taught 4th and 5th grade for many years and now love my time with the 6th through 8th grade, middle school students.  I truly appreciate the opportunity to watch students work through complex academic content and address the material through their unique, personal lenses.  My greatest joy at school is developing the personal relationships with students; I am proud to be one of the adults in their lives.  Outside of my time at Mary Collins School, my passions include spending time with my family, reading, drawing, traveling, and collecting comic books and artwork.
